THALAMIC NUCLEI

NOTE: This figure indicates how the thalamic nuclei are divided into anterior, posterior, medial and lateral divisions. The diagram on the left provides a lateral view and the one on the right a coronal or cross sectional view. Different texts refer to nuclei with different order of terms, but as you can see from these figures, changing the order of the terms does not confuse the location.
